Hello World,
I am the Do-Over Bride.
Why am I a Do-Over Bride....well...I'm sure my story is not very different from a lot of DOB's. On April 8, 2007, my hubby (who is my Pumpkin Pie, PP for short ) and I decided to get married, and with the help of my sister, we began planning our wedding. July 5, 2008 was set to be our wedding date. Well, sometimes life doesn't go as planned and you have to roll with the punches, and our love has been no exception. At the time, I had a job that did not offer health insurance and I had to go to the emergency room. The bill was staggering, and PP and I were worried about what we would do next time something like this happened. One day, PP came to me and said "Baby, I love you and I want to take care of you. Since we planning to get married anyway let's have a civil ceremony and now so I can add you to my insurance and we will still have our wedding in July." I said yes and two weeks later on August 11, 2007 we became husband and wife.
Unfortunately, by October 2007 I called our wedding ceremony off. The main reason was because of family drama surrounding the ceremony. Reason #2 was money, we had just moved, bought a car and were getting adjusted to living on our own. We weren't going to be able to afford the wedding that I wanted. So I said hell with all the stress, I'm done...it was a decision that I regret even now. I purchased things for the wedding, and seeing those items reminds me of what I missed out on. Most girls want their day, and I gave mine up. So I decided to finally have the day I always wanted. PP and I are renewing our vows on August 11, 2012...our 5th anniversary!
Doing research on vow renewals online showed me how inconsiderate some people can be. I've seen so many comments like "well you're already married you can't have a wedding do-over" "you can't wear this kind of dress" "you can't have a bridal party" the list of things I "can't do" goes on and on. Well, I know that this should not be a "wedding" but it will be what PP and I decide it should be. I'm doing this over again, and this time I'm gonna do it right. So follow my journey as I plan my fabulous vow renewal ceremony. It may not be my "wedding" but dammit it's gonna be my day to shine...to immerse myself in the fabulousity of being a do-over bride!
I LOVE it!! This is going to be a day to remember, and who cares about what those those other brides say! You can and we will do what you damn well please!!!
